My patio roof has two downspouts. Only one is connected to the rainbarrel. The other will be closed off, forcing all the rain to the barrel. When the barrel is full, the diverter will stop filling the barrel, and water will continue out the downspout. Very clever design. I took video of both downspouts to show how effective the diverter is.
